The number of positive COVID-19 cases in New York continues to set records, as the state confirmed that 49,708 positive cases were reported on December 24 alone.
That number marks the highest single-day total in the state since the pandemic began.
New record daily infections as Australia marks second Covid Christmas - dpa (12/25/21)
Individual Australian states and territories have posted new record daily coronavirus infections as the country celebrates its second Christmas holiday under the pandemic.
New South Wales posted a new record of 6,288 coronavirus infections in a day, the state health ministry said Saturday.

WHO approves Novavax and COVAXIN - Steve Kirsch (12/25/21)
ICYMI: On December 17, the WHO has granted the Novavax vaccine Emergency Use Approval.
The Novavax vaccine was granted emergency use authorization in November in Indonesia, the first country to do so, and was soon followed by the Philippines. The company has also filed with the U.K. and the European Medicines Agency, with plans to apply to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration before the end of this year.

Florida Health’s HealthierYouFL.org website now urges Floridians to “Talk to your health care provider about how certain supplements or foods containing vitamins and minerals might help boost your immune system, such as zinc, vitamin D, vitamin C and quercetin.” These are all well-known supplements that have been shown to have a positive impact on your COVID-19 risk.

Vice President Kamala Harris avoided placing blame on unvaccinated individuals amid the recent surge of the coronavirus, and instead urged Americans to take responsibility and get their vaccinations and booster shots.

Bennett tests negative for COVID-19, to stay in quarantine - The Jerusalem Post (12/26/21)
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett entered isolation on Sunday after his 14-year-old daughter tested positive for coronavirus. However, a PCR test taken by the prime minister on Sunday was negative.
The prime minister said he will stay in isolation as a precaution.

The Ministry of Public Health of Tucumán, Argentina released a report that a three-year-old girl died last December 16 and the justice system has intervened and will investigate the cause of her death.
“On Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 12:00 hours, a 3-year-old patient, in cardiorespiratory arrest, enters the Emergency Service of the Hospital of the Child Jesus. Advanced resuscitation maneuvers are carried out and, when [she] does not respond, [her] death is declared,” the Tucumán Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Myocarditis risk was increased during 1-28 days following a third dose of BNT162b2 (IRR 2.02, 95%CI 1.40, 2.91). Associations were strongest in males younger than 40 years for all vaccine types with an additional 3 (95%CI 1, 5) and 12 (95% CI 1,17) events per million estimated in the 1-28 days following a first dose of BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273, respectively; 14 (95%CI 8, 17), 12 (95%CI 1, 7) and 101 (95%CI 95, 104) additional events following a second dose of ChAdOx1, BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273, respectively; and 13 (95%CI 7, 15) additional events following a third dose of BNT162b2, compared with 7 (95%CI 2, 11) additional events following COVID-19 infection. An association between COVID-19 infection and myocarditis was observed in all ages for both sexes but was substantially higher in those older than 40 years. These findings have important implications for public health and vaccination policy.
