Omicron sub-variants BA.4, BA.5 make up 70% of COVID variants in U.S. - CDC (Reuters) - July 5, 2022
The fast-spreading BA.4 and BA.5 sub-lineages of Omicron are estimated to make up a combined 70.1% of the coronavirus variants in the United States as of July 2, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday.
BA.4 and BA.5 made up 52% of U.S. variants for the week of June 25.
They were added to the World Health Organization's monitoring list in March and designated as variants of concern by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control.

Protection provided by vaccines and prior infection has greatly improved Covid outcomes since the pandemic’s early days, and reinfections are typically less severe than initial ones. Yet each new infection carries a risk of medical problems, including hospitalization, death and long Covid, according to preliminary data from a study of patients in the Veterans Affairs health system.

Connecticut cancer patient is longest known COVID sufferer in the WORLD: Person in their 60s has been infected for over 450 days as the virus mutated three times inside them (Daily Mail) - July 5, 2022
An unnamed Connecticut residents has been infected with COVID-19 for well over a year with scientists even finding that virus has mutated multiple times within them.
Researchers at Yale University discovered the patient, who is in their 60s and suffering from a type of lymphoma, after tracing back cases of a believed to be extinct variant back to them.
After further inspection, they found that the person had three different sub-lineages of the virus in their blood stream - signaling they were a vector for mutation.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers will need to update fall boosters to target BA.4 and BA.5 Omicron subvariants, a day after the White House announced a $3.2 billion vaccine deal with Pfizer to include new boosters for subvariants.

In an interview with The Defender, the lawyer representing whistleblower Brook Jackson said Pfizer is arguing the court should dismiss Jackson’s lawsuit alleging fraud in Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trials because the U.S. government knew about the wrongdoings but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.
